Terrific! I sincerely hope that the August 2024 Act is eventually duplicated here in NZ. I was a student 50 years ago - but now of course I'm bewildered by numerous things. In particular, the willingness of our young to allow modern day thought control.

Just as you made a bet with yourself that your event would never happen I will make a bet that nothing much will change once August arrives.

I think it is highly likely that the Office for Students is as ideologically captured as every other body seems to be and will have little or no appetite for defending the free speech rights of the unwoke; if the Police can merrily ignore the law you can bet that this quango will also find ways to go its own way. And of course by August we will almost certainly have a new government from a party that would not have passed this law and is generally not sympathetic to the GC viewpoint as the backtracking by Bridget Phillipson on the guidance for schools on trans matters evidences.

We will see! Maybe I’m too pessimistic but I’m sceptical.

It is a move in the right direction. And if this happens to me again then I will have to take legal action. I accept it may take some a while to appreciate their legal obligations, given that for some time they have been told by Stonewall et al that they don't have any. But if this flagrant disregard for the rule of law continues into 2025, then we need to take action. I am confident that The Free Speech Union is on top of this. We are now organised and angry in a way that we were not five years ago.

Bit of good news there, sanity may at last be legislated for as regards free speech!! The young I distributed students may not be allowed to dictate for much longer and may actually learn something from free speech
